Across the world, taxation authorities are assaulting the legal principles that are foundations of liberty and due process. Extra-territorial over-reach, neglecting any presumption of innocence and basic rights to privacy are challenged. Laws like FATCA, FBAR requirements and the OECD efforts to make these unjust laws global threaten our basic freedoms.
CATO Institute Senior Fellow Daniel J. Mitchell is an expert in fiscal policy, particularly tax reform, international tax competition, and the economic burden of government spending. Dan’s work has been published in numerous outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Forbes, USA Today, among many others. He has appeared on all the major TV networks, and has given speeches in almost 40 states and more than 30 countries. Dan earned a PhD in economics from George Mason University.
